Fandom Snowflake Day 1 & 2

Fandom Snowflake Challenge banner 2018

Day 1

In your own space, talk about why you're participating in Snowflake and, if you’ve participated in the past, how the challenge has affected you.

I've really enjoyed the Fandom Snowflake Challenge the past few years. It's been a great way to start the year and really think about my participation in the past year and how I want to participate in the next. I think it helps set the tone of my fandom year by encouraging me to create and interact with other fans in an exclusively positive way. Plus there's always lot of wonderful fanworks created and recced, which is wonderful! I think of it as a sort of bubble of fandom happiness for the beginning of the year :)

Day 2

In your own space, share a favorite memory about fandom.

The first thing that popped into my mind was the vid show at KiSCon. I'm not usually a vid person bc it takes more concentration and focus than I have most of the time, but it was soooo much fun to sit and watch vids with everyone for like two hours. There was so much laughing and clapping and crying and whispering to each other about how much we loved it. I felt like that was a really important part of what made the con so much fun, that we could all be there together, surrounding ourselves with a fandom we love <3

Comments

Awwwwwwwwww... that sounds like a very nice time at the Con :) So happy for you! :)
Thank you, it really was a great time :D

This is one of the best things about Snowflake, for sure! (But yes, I enjoy getting the recs, too. *g*)

Meeting like-minded people at cons is such a wonderful gift from fandom.
I mean, you just can't say no to recs :D

It really is! And being at such a small con was esp awesome bc it gave so much more time for one on one with other fans and really getting to know them <3
Oh yeah! I've only got to watch vids briefly with other people but I can imagine it'd be great. Having an audience reaction is a huge part of why I love theatre so much, and communal IRL fandom experiences are so rare and beautiful <3
It really is a lot like live theatre! Except even better since everyone is already into the fandom and it's totally acceptable to laugh and clap more loudly. Irl communal fandom is the best :D
