30 Days of FIc: Days 12 & 13

12 – Have you ever attempted an "adaptation" fic of a favorite book or movie but set in a different fandom?

Mmm, I don't think so? I've done like Harry Potter AUs for MCU and stuff like that, but I wouldn't consider those adaptions. I think I have bunnies for a few in my files, mostly romcoms that I want to stick my ships into, but none of them have as yet been written.

13 – Do you prefer canon or fanon when you write? Has writing fanfic for a fandom changed the way you see some or even all of the original source material?

Fanon, I suppose. I mean, obviously canon is important and I appreciate it, but I'm generally much more interested in fanon. There are plenty of things in fandom that have grown so that I can't tell if it's canon or fanon anymore, and I really don't mind that. I'm not sure if it's writing fic or just being in fandom, but I guess I'm much less reverent about source material. I (generally) respect it, but fandom is a place to explore and have fun and make better. There's no need to stick by the status quo just bc that's the way the source material is or to police myself bc whatever way I'm adapting canon makes the creator uncomfortable or whatever.
